Passports

Please read this important message before continuing

The Embassy of Lebanon informs the Lebanese community in Canada that as of October 31, 2006 twenty seven countries will not issue visas to holders of Lebanese passports with the burgundy coloured covers. Therefore, the Embassy encourages all members of the Lebanese community who are traveling to Lebanon, to acquire the new blue Lebanese passport during their stay in Lebanon from the Directorate General of Sûreté Générale. This blue passport can be issued in just a couple of days in Lebanon.

The Embassy renews the burgundy passport for one year only, and it can issue a new burgundy passport valid for one year only upon receipt of the approval from the Lebanese authorities. The blue Lebanese passport can be renewed for one year or five years at the Embassy, and it is issued only in Lebanon.

N.B.: All Lebanese citizens who left Lebanon, during the evacuation of July 2006, and do not have the exit stamp on their passport, need the approval of the Lebanese authorities in order for the Embassy to renew their Passport.
