OPEN HOUSE RECEPTION
ON THE OCCASION OF THE ELECTION OF
PRESIDENT MICHEL SLEIMAN

 

 

   On the occasion of the election of General Michel Sleiman as President of the Republic of Lebanon, Ambassador Massoud Maalouf hosted an Open House Reception in the Residence of the Embassy on 5 June 2008.

 

Arab Ambassadors and diplomats as well as members of the Lebanese community were the main guests of this reception, the purpose of which was to congratulate Lebanon for this happy event which put an end to the serious political crisis that lasted more than six months.

 

The presence of the Mayor of the Capital City of Ottawa, His Worship Mr. Larry O’Brien accompanied by City Counsellor Mr. Elie Chantiri was a very pleasant surprise for all the guests who appreciated this generous gesture of the Mayor.

 

Among the more than four hundred guests who came to express their congratulations for the election of President Sleiman, the presence of the religious leaders of all the communities and representatives of the Lebanese political parties in Ottawa was noteworthy

 

All the guests expressed their satisfaction at the new developments taking place in Lebanon and expressed their happiness to see General Michel Sleiman as the new President of the Republic of Lebanon
