ARAB DAY IN OTTAWA
The Council of Arab Ambassadors accredited to Canada organized the "Arab Day" on June 1st, 2010 at Chateau Laurier Hotel in the presence of hundreds of officials, diplomats and members of the Arab community in Ottawa.
Among our distinguished guests were the Speaker of the Senate the Honourable Noël Kinsella, Speaker of the House of Commons the Honourable Peter Milliken and the Minister of Immigration and Citizenship the Honourable Jason Kenney.
The ceremony was shortened because of the savage Israeli aggression on peaceful civilian vessels bound for Gaza; the musical portion of the program was canceled in this regard.
The Dean of Arab Diplomatic Corps, H.E. Howar Ziad, gave a speech on this occasion: He welcomed those present and those who have contributed to the success of this event, especially the members of the Lebanese Community Abdo El Tassi, Consul of Lebanon in Halifax Wadih Fares, Assaad Abdel Nour and Paul Mariamo.
The cocktail offered on this occasion was rich and varied, and each embassy has shown handcraft products, books and pamphlets relating to its country.
