Embassy Events 64th Anniversary of the Independence of Lebanon Due to the prevailing political circumstances in Lebanon, ceremonies to celebrate the 64th anniversary of the Independence of Lebanon did not take place this year. However, responding to numerous calls from Lebanese-Canadian citizens who expressed their wish to come to the Embassy and present their congratulations, Ambassador Massoud Maalouf held an “Open House” at his residence on Thursday 22 November 2007. An estimated 300 persons showed up at the Residence that evening, including Senators Pierre De Bané and Mac Harb, and religious leaders from different communities in Ottawa, as well as presidents and representatives from various Lebanese-Canadian institutions, organizations and associations. |
